The famous Chinese sculptor Yan Yu Kun was commissioned to create these sculptures during his recent visit to Duke University in 1996. The works displayed at Shanghai are actually products of his many hours spent in the restaurant to "get the true feel of the atmosphere so it is transferred directly from hand to medium".
